California Upholds Prop 22’s Impartial Contractor Standing for Gig Employees


California’s Court docket of Attraction has upheld a regulation that classifies gig staff as impartial contractors slightly than workers.  

In November 2020, Proposition 22 was handed in California, exempting gig work-based companies from state labor legal guidelines that might require them to deal with all employed staff as workers and supply them with advantages. Tech giants like Uber, Lyft, DoorDash and Instacart are reported to have spent a collective $200 million on a marketing campaign that helped go the unique poll measure.
